2020 has been a crazy year with the coronavirus pandemic but Hallmark has given us several things to get excited over. Five, to be exact.
They released three new ornaments in July and two more in October. None of them disappoint! The Dumbledore and Hagrid character figures are meant to go with last year's release of the Hogwarts castle tree topper, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger figures. However, they are lovely on their own if you don't have or want to get the other items.
Hagrid's Hut is the latest release of buildings, which started unofficially back in 2013 with the Hogwarts castle, but then officially (at least in my opinion) in 2016 with Ollivander's Wand Shop. There has been one building a year since 2016, which is why I say officially.
Albus Dumbledore
Year Released: 2020, July
Dimensions: 2.2" W x 6.2" H x 2.1" D
Artist: Kristina Gaughran and Tim Bodendistel
Light: Yes
Sound: Yes
Power Source: Keepsake power cord
Description: Dumbledore is one of two additions to last year's 'Harry Potter Collection Storytellers' series, which requires the Hogwarts castle tree topper to connect to. There are five characters in total, and it appears that there will be no more characters after 2020.
Dumbledore will interact with the other four characters: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Rubius Hagrid, as well as the castle. When activated, they will reenact a scene from the first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
Rubius Hagrid
Year Released: 2020, October 3rd
Dimensions: 2.5" W x 6.06" H x 2.5" D
Artist: Kristina Gaughran and Tim Bodendistel
Light: Yes
Sound: Yes
Power Source: Keepsake power cord
Description: Rubius Hagrid, keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts, is also Harry's protector. He rescued Harry from Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon, and kept an eye on Harry from that time forward. He is the last of the Storytellers ornament series.
When connected to the Hogwarts castle using the Keepsake power cord, Hagrid will interact with the other four characters. He is seen holding his pink umbrella, which secretly contains the remains of his snapped wand.
Hagrid's Hut
Year Released: 2020, July
Dimensions: 4.8" W x 3.9" H x 3.1" D
Artist: Orville Wilson
Light: Yes
Sound: No
Description: Hagrid's hut is at the edge of the Forbidden Forest, which makes it easy for Hagrid to venture in when he needs to check on any of the inhabitants, such as unicorns or centaurs. It is also a place the Harry, Ron, and Hermione frequent often. They learned quickly, though, to avoid his rock cakes!
This ornament has a hole in the back where you can insert a Christmas tree lightbulb, which will illuminate the inside of the hut, which you can see in the picture above. Outside the door are several of the giant pumpkins that Hagrid might or might not have magically charmed to grow larger than normal...
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Year Released: 2020, October 3rd
Dimensions: 3.14" W x 3.36" H x 1.15" D
Artist: Anita Marra Rogers
Light: No
Sound: No
Description: This is the third of the Harry Potter book ornament, and it depicts the cover of the book designed by Mary GrandPré, who did the covers for the books published in the United States.
It has Harry and Hermione flying on Buckbeak. If you look closely, you can see Sirius Black's shadow in the corner, sitting in his room, waiting for dementors to suck out his soul. Fortunately, Harry and Hermione are on their way to rescue him!
Hogwarts Castle Tree Skirt
Year Released: 2020, October 3rd
Dimensions: 4' diameter
Artist: Tim Bodendistel
Light: Yes
Sound: No
Power Source: Keepsake power cord
Description: This is the first Harry Potter tree skirt that Hallmark has released and it's beautiful! If you plug it in then it will light up the castle. The lights twinkle, making it look like candles are lit in each of the rooms.
Outside you can see several owls flying away from the school, and one is holding a school letter for a lucky witch or wizard who has been accepted for the upcoming school year. Stars are visible in the clear night's sky.
