The Shrieking Shack was said to be the most haunted place in all of Britain. Rumors tell of hearing loud screams coming from within the house, which has no known methods of entry. What could be making those screams? And is it really haunted?
Well, no. Albus Dumbledore had it built and encouraged the rumors as a kindness to a young Remus Lupin who was stricken with lycanthropy, an affliction that caused him to turn into a werewolf once every month. Lupin was able to go to the Shrieking Shack and stay safely inside the house during his transformations. The residents of Hogsmeade, where the house is located, heard Lupin, not a ghost, yelling and screaming.

Ron Weasley was taken to the shack by Sirius Black, who was in his animagus dog form at the time, by going through the only entrance in and out of the shack, a small and hidden hole at the base of the Whomping Willow. Harry Potter and Hermione Granger entered the hole to rescue Ron from the giant dog that had taken him. It was there, in the shack, that the trio learned the truth about Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew.
The Shrieking Shack playset is one of my favorite LEGO® sets in the Harry Potter collection! There is an amazing amount of detail and surprises, and it even includes Honeydukes candy shop, though I'm not sure why. I'm not complaining, mind you, but it seemed like an odd building to include.
The house itself is purposely unsteady. It spins and has places where you can fall through the floor. There is also a small shed that you can use to transform Sirius Black into a dog. The way it works is rather simple but very effective. LEGO® did an amazing job making this set!
