This is the third and final version of Hagrid's hut. It is nothing like the 1st edition, which was almost bare inside compared to the two that came after it, and it had a very different type of roof. This set is closer in design to the 2nd edition, but there are enough differences that it will still appeal to collectors of Harry Potter LEGO® sets.
The outside shape of the 2nd edition and this one are very similar, as are the roofs. The inside of both huts have a lot of items - some are the same (fireplace) while others differ (this one has a portrait, Norbert, and an axe, which are just some of the furnishings in this set).

Between the 2nd version and this one, I prefer this one. I like the look of the items in Hagrid's home better, such as the potion bottles and the fireplace. The fireplace for this version is unique in that it has a brick that lights up when pressed from behind. I've included a picture below of the brick lighting up. It makes it look like the fireplace flame is flickering gently.
Both the 2nd version and this one include Hagrid and Hermione Granger. But with this one you get two additional minifigs - Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. It also includes Aragog, the giant spider that Hagrid raised from an egg. Aragog was included in Aragog in the Dark Forest, but LEGO® changed the way he was made so there really isn't much the two spiders share in common other than size.
