If you want to wear a Hogwarts Hufflepuff costume then you have two different costume looks to choose from. The first look is the Hufflepuff House student uniform. The uniform includes the Hufflepuff House robe, sweater, and other required attire.
The second look you can wear is the Hufflepuff Quidditch uniform. The Quidditch uniform includes the Quidditch robe, helmet, goggles, and game equipment (Golden Snitch, Quaffle, and Bludger bat and ball).
I have also gathered several optional accessories that will put the finishing touches on your Hufflepuff costume. It doesn’t matter which of the two looks that you go with, I have done the hard work for you by gathering the items for both uniforms. From the school robe, clothes, scarf, and hat to the Quidditch uniform and optional accessories, here is everything you need for a Hufflepuff costume.
Hufflepuff School Uniform |
Robe
Hufflepuff House robes are black with the Hufflepuff crest on them (the crest has a badger, the house’s mascot). The robe is adorned with yellow accents. There are only a few officially authorized Hufflepuff robes and they are fairly basic – most are simple black robes with a crest but no lining.

Cosplay Robe
In addition to mass-produced robes, there are also Cosplay Hufflepuff robes. Cosplay robes are made of higher quality materials, will stand up to repeat wearings, are more detailed, and look gorgeous.
If you want a robe that is made from a nicer material and is lined with the colors of Hufflepuff House then you will want a Cosplay robe. Cosplay robes are not always available so it is possible that when you click on the links below that there won’t be any currently for sale. With any luck, though, there will be!

Grey Sweater
Each Hogwarts school uniform includes a sweater, which I am sure the students appreciated on cold, snowy days. The Hufflepuff sweater is dark grey with yellow accents around the wrists and bottom of the sweater.
There was an officially licensed Hufflepuff House student sweater, as well as an authentic Replica version, but both can be hard to find. There are also handmade sweaters sold on Etsy, as well as a couple of variations (i.e. sleeveless and button-down). I have included several sources to help you find a sweater if you want to include one with your costume.

White Shirt (For Women)
Part of every Hogwarts student’s school uniform is a white shirt. Sure, you rarely see the shirts underneath the school robes but they are there.
One thing that I do not know is if the shirts have long or short sleeves so you can decide what type of shirt will work best for your costume. There are a lot of shirts to choose from so go with the one that you like the most.
White School Shirt
Grey Skirt (For Women)
In addition to a white shirt, girls at Hogwarts are also required to wear a skirt. The Hufflepuff skirt seen in the movies is dark grey, so I have chosen styles that match the skirts as closely as possible and is a must for any Hufflepuff uniform costume.
Grey School Skirt
Grey Tights (For Women)
Okay, I admit that tights were probably not a requirement for girls at Hogwarts but they look great with the white shirt and grey skirt. Therefore, I am including them as part of a Hufflepuff costume.
There are a lot of different tights you can choose from in a variety of grey colors. Choose whatever shade that you like the most, or that best matches the skirt you decide to wear.
Grey Tights
White Shirt (For Men)
Another part of every Hogwarts student’s school uniform is a white shirt. Sure, you rarely see the shirts underneath the school robes but they are there, so you will want to include one, especially if you want to be as accurate as possible with your outfit.
One thing that I do not know is if the shirts have long or short sleeves so you can decide what type of shirt will work best for your costume. There are a lot of shirts to choose from so go with the one that you like the most.

Cufflinks
You can add a touch of class, or humor, to your outfit with one of the many Harry Potter cufflinks that are available. Most are serious, such as the ones for each of the four Houses, but some are silly, like the ones made with Harry Potter LEGO® characters. Some even come with matching tie clips.
Hogwarts Cufflinks
Grey Pants (For Men)
Grey pants complete the official Hogwarts uniform. Dockers-style pants work best because they are a great combination of business and casual.

Tie
The last requirement for a Hogwarts uniform is the tie. There are a lot of different Hufflepuff ties but they all have one thing in common – they are black with yellow accents. Some might have a Hufflepuff crest on it (a badger) but not all.
If you are going to also get a scarf and/or hat then I suggest you make sure that the yellow for all of those items matches the tie because it would be easy to clash if you get the wrong shades of yellow.
Hufflepuff Necktie
Tie Clip
There are several different tie clips, also called tie bars, that you can use to keep your House tie in place. Designs include the Hogwarts school crest, Platform 9 3/4, and the Deathly Hallows symbol.

School Hat
There are two types of hats that students of Hogwarts can wear as they go about their days. The first type of hat is the one you see here, a black hat that comes to a point on top.
This is the hat that conforms with each student’s required uniform. However, based on what we saw in the movies, the hat is required to have but not necessarily to wear. Students seemed to have the option to choose whether or not they wanted to wear it.
Hogwarts Student Hat
Beanie
The other style of hat that Hogwarts students can wear is the beanie hat. This hat is perfect during the winter months because it will keep your ears warm if you choose to pull the hat down to cover your ears.
The beanie is knitted from the colors of Hufflepuff House. Some styles even include the house’s crest on it, just above the forehead. It’s nice to know that Hogwarts allows students the option to choose their hats, especially given how cold it gets in the wintertime there.

Hair Accessory
Don’t want to wear a hat? Then take a look at the many different Hufflepuff hair accessories that are available. There is an officially licensed headband, seen below, and plenty of custom-made clips, barrettes, and ponytail holders. The items you will see from the links below might vary quite a bit, but the one thing they all have in common is that they use Hufflepuff’s black and yellow.

Scarf
Those of you who live in cool or cold climates will benefit from adding a Hufflepuff house scarf to your costumes. As with the tie, the scarf is comprised of house colors of black and yellow.
The size of the stripes may vary from scarf to scarf but all officially licensed scarves also include a Hufflepuff house crest. There are even handmade scarves on Etsy that are wonderfully interesting and unique. Have fun choosing a scarf!
Hufflepuff Scarf
Socks
There are several different types of Hufflepuff socks, including knee-high and ankle socks. Some socks are officially licensed, while many others are lovingly designed by fans.

Shoes
Complete your Hufflepuff House uniform with a pair of shoes. Although there aren’t officially licensed shoes, there are several that any Hufflepuff would be proud to wear. There are styles available for both men and women.

Quidditch Robe
At the time of this writing, there is only one reputable source for a Hufflepuff Quidditch robe and it is by a seller on Etsy. They don’t have a photo of their Hufflepuff robes but I know they are every bit as gorgeous as the other robes that they do have pictures of.
Thank you to ClockQuirks for giving me permission to use their picture.

Quidditch Varsity Jacket
You have the option of wearing a varsity team jacket. There are several styles available, although they can be hard to find.
Hufflepuff Quidditch Jacket
Quidditch Sweater
You might recall that Quidditch players in the Harry Potter movies sometimes wore sweaters that matched their Houses. They are made from a heavy knit yarn and have accenting colors for each House. The Hufflepuff sweater is black with yellow.
Hufflepuff Quidditch Sweater
Quidditch Jersey
There is also a jersey shirt that is lightweight if you don’t want the warmth of the sweater. There are several official styles and many unofficial ones.

Quidditch Helmet
There are not too many items that a Quidditch player is required to wear but the most important item is arguably the helmet. Quidditch helmets resemble old-fashioned boxing helmets, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s where the design inspiration came from.
Given the fact that Quidditch players are flying on brooms high above the ground, protecting their heads from falls is a must. At first glance, Quidditch helmets don’t look very protective but I am sure that they have been magically enhanced so that students who fall don’t need to worry about their heads. Their arms, on the other hand, now that’s a different matter altogether…
Quidditch Helmet
Quidditch Goggles
An item that seems to be optional, yet very helpful, is goggles. Imagine what it must be like flying around at high speeds. Your eyes would surely take a beating even in the best weather. Days when it rains would be torturous for the players.
Goggles are the perfect item to help Quidditch players fly without wind, rain, or debris irritating their eyes. I love how the goggles have a bit of a steampunk feel to them, and that they have a golden snitch on the sides. Goggles are a nice touch if you wear a Quidditch costume.
Quidditch Goggles
Accessory Kit
There is an officially licensed accessory kit that includes goggles, gloves, arm guards, and knee and shin guards. They are brown and look like they are made from leather (they aren’t really) and add a nice touch to any Quidditch uniform. There’s just one thing – this set only comes in child size.

Broom
Having a decent broom is a must for every Quidditch player. The quality of a person’s broom will directly impact how well the team does as a whole since speed and accuracy play a big part in this game.
Quidditch Broom
Golden Snitch
The Golden Snitch is a super-fast flying object that needs to be caught before any game can end. Not only are they fast, but they are also small and incredibly difficult to see, let alone catch.
What would Quidditch be without the Golden Snitch? Boring, very, very boring!
Golden Snitch
Quaffle
The Quaffle is the ball used to score in the game of Quidditch. It is much larger than the Golden Snitch, and it is easier to catch and throw.
There is an officially licensed Quaffle, but it often goes out of stock which is why I have included links to both Amazon and eBay to help you find one.
Quaffle
Bludger Bat and Ball
Beaters use Bludger bats to hit a small ball at their opponents to keep them from scoring. Getting hit by a Bludger or ball is one of the more dangerous aspects of Quidditch.

Hufflepuff Pin
Add a Hufflepuff House pin to your uniform for a bit of fun. There are at least a handful of official pins that I know of, but there are many fan-made pins that are also available.

Hogwarts Student ID Badge
I found a seller who makes Hogwarts student ID badges. Each badge includes a student’s details, such as House, name, gender, wizarding blood status, and wand type.
There are pre-made badges for many of the main characters that have pictures of the actors who portrayed each character. Or, you can customize a badge with a picture of yourself and any name you want.

Prefect Pin
Each year Hogwarts Headmaster selects one boy and one girl from each of the four school Houses from the fifth, sixth, and seventh-year students to be Prefects. Prefects are students who have been given additional responsibilities and authority over students.
Were you such a great student that you were honored with being made a Prefect? Then show the other Hogwarts students that you are in charge with a Prefect pin!

Head Boy or Girl Pin
The Headmaster chooses one boy and one from all the seventh-year students to be the Head Boy and Head Girl. These two students might have been Prefects, but that is not a requirement. The Head students are at the top of the chain for authority and responsibility, even above the Prefects.

Support Cedric Diggory Pin
Cedric Diggory was chosen by the Goblet of Fire to represent Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the Triwizard Tournament in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Harry Potter’s name was also selected by the Goblet after someone mysteriously entered Harry into the tournament. This didn’t sit well with just about any of the students because Harry was too young to be eligible to compete.
One of the students at Hogwarts created a badge that alternated between saying “Support Cedric Diggory” and “Potter Stinks”. (It was never revealed which student made this button but my money knuts and sickles are on Draco Malfoy…) I don’t think a Hufflepuff would wear a “Potter Stinks” button but by all means, show your support of Cedric.

Hogwarts School Textbooks
Students at Hogwarts can take a variety of magical classes. There are several sellers on Etsy who have crafted their own versions of the textbooks used by Hogwarts students. Most are blank journals with textbook covers but at least one that I saw had two pages of text inside each journal. Hufflepuffs dedicate themselves to whatever they put their minds to and that includes schoolwork, so having a textbook would not be out of character at all.
