It seems like just yesterday that it was Halloween, but here we are on the first day of December. That means that it is almost time for Old Saint Nick to do his annual trek around the globe, bringing gifts to all the good girls and boys. But gifts are just one aspect of the holiday. Decorating is another.
Every year I love seeing what creative sellers have to offer, and this year is no exception. I’m creating this post to share with you some of my favorite magical Christmas decoration ideas for 2024.
Please know that these are not in any particular order, so don’t assume that the first item you see is my top ranking item. I love all the things on here and would display them or wear them with pride.
Wizarding Tree Ribbon
This is the first year that I have wrapped a ribbon around my Christmas tree (yes, I know, shocking that it took me this long to do so) and it adds a wonderful dash of color. I had no idea until this year how much a ribbon on a tree adds to the overall look of your decorations.
Take a look at this one magical ribbon. It has six different designs options on two different backgrounds (white or beige), for a total of 12 different looks. Want just the footprints from the Marauders Map? You can get that. Happy Christmas with cute cats representing each of the four Hogwarts houses? You can get that too, as well as several other designs.
Hogwarts Express At Christmas Sun Catcher
Sun catchers are meant to be like tiny stained glass windows. They are colorful and usually vibrant, and this Hogwarts Express sun catcher is no exception. It shows the magical train moving through a snowy scene, with Christmas trees on either side, and the Hogwarts Express in the background. You can choose from several different sizes in either acrylic or glass.
Hogwarts Castle Key Holder
Oh, my goodness! This wooden Hogwarts Castle key holder is magnificent! It comes in several sizes and you can choose from three, four, or six key tags, which attach to the holder with magnets. Each key tag is round and displays an image from Harry’s world, such as the Sorting Hat, Harry’s glasses and scar, and the Hogwarts letter that so many witches and wizards wait for when they turn 11. According to the seller, this is an officially licensed item. Official or otherwise, this is truly beautiful.
Stacked Harry Potter Books Ornament
Although this is one ornament of stacked Harry Potter books that’s being sold from this seller, there are quite a few different options for it that it’s really many different ornaments. So many choices! You can choose from the UK edition of the original book covers (sorry, I don’t know who the artist is) or the US edition with covers created by Mary Grand Pre. However, that’s just the beginning of what you can select. There are also nine different ways that you can have the books arranged, including neatly stacked, messily stacked, or not stacked at all.
Wizarding World Christmas Paper
Gifts are only as good as the paper they are wrapped in, right? No, not true, I totally made that up. However, gifts wrapped in this Wizarding World Christmas paper are going to be loved before they are even opened! The design is of various front pages from the Daily Prophet, the magical newspaper for witches and wizards. It comes in three different sizes and you can choose from matte and satin paper finishes. I’m curious, would you be able to rip this paper off the gift if you received it, or would you meticulously open it, doing your best to prevent rips or tears, so that you could keep it along with whatever is hidden inside? Pretty sure I’d be doing the latter.
Set of Six Daily Prophet Ornaments
Here’s one last ornament option that I really like, a set of six Daily Prophet newspaper ornaments, wrapped with string just like you find in the Muggle world. The papers include publications announcing a mass breakout from Azkaban, Severus Snape’s appointment as the new Hogwarts Headmaster, and The Boy Who Lived.
There you have it, a variety of magical decorating ideas. Each item is sold at Etsy but please know that it’s possible any of these could be sold out when you visited. If so, here is a link to all the Harry Potter Christmas decorations. Want Muggle ideas, too? Then you can get those by visiting this link.
