Severus Snape was the most complex character in the entire Harry Potter series. He was both a good guy and a bad guy, often both at the same time. Snape despised Harry Potter and Harry’s father, James, yet he loved Harry’s mother, Lily, with all his heart. He showed his true colors to one man only, Albus Dumbledore, and mastered the art of deception to everyone else, including Lord Voldemort.
Snape is also a tragic character. Most of the events in these stories were the result of one thing Snape did before Harry was born – he spied on the interview between Dumbledore and Sybil Trelawney and overheard part of her prophecy. Had Snape not done that one thing, Harry’s parents wouldn’t have been murdered trying to protect Harry’s life, Harry wouldn’t have been The Boy Who Lived, and Lord Voldemort probably would have lived a comfortable life reigning terror on anyone or anything that got in his way of global domination.
You can honor Snape’s memory by using Severus Snape stamps on your mail. Each design is sold at Zazzle and comes in a variety of sizes. Here are my four favorite Snape stamps.
