Actor Alan Rickman, the man who played Professor Severus Snape so perfectly, passed away on January 14, 2016, from pancreatic cancer. He is being mourned by fans all over the world, including Orlando's Universal Studios.
The end of January is when Universal Studios is hosting the 3rd annual 'Celebration of Harry Potter'. I've heard rumors that Universal is putting together a tribute to Mr. Rickman for the celebration, but there is an unofficial gathering that will occur during this weekend that you are welcome to attend.
The event is called 'Wands Up' and will take place in front of the Knight Bus (the triple decker purple bus) in front of Diagon Alley at Universal Studios. The event will last just five minutes, during which time all who are there will raise there wands in silence to honor the memory of Alan Rickman. You can get details here.
