Wonderful Day Students and Faculty:
We have very special guest today coming all the way from across the pond. Representatives from the "Magical Congress of the United States of America" will be here, giving a lecture in the great hall at 2:19 pm today. Representatives will travel by floo powder to the castle. Classes will be suspended at that time so all can come. The talk will be on a very interesting part of American history: The Salem Witch hunts. Just a hint of what they will cover in the lecture. The Salem witch trials occurred in colonial Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693. More than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft - the Devil's magic - and 20 were executed. Eventually, the colony admitted the trials were a mistake and compensated the families of those convicted. These were sad times in America. Witches and wizards were being hunted and accused of being bad or evil people. As we all know, though, bad and evil people come in all walks of life. Even in the muggle world. Please be prompt. Refreshments will be served.
Warm regards,
Headmaster Dumbledore
