Did you know that there is a super easy way to make custom coffee mugs? It's true! And all you need is a white mug, Sharpie pens, and a bit of creativity. Oh, and rubbing alcohol will help you out in case you make a mistake.

This video will show you exactly what you need to do to make your own Harry Potter mug with Sharpies. It turns out that the secret to keeping the ink from rubbing off is to cook the finished mugs in the oven at 425° F for 35 minutes.

What You Need To Make A Harry Potter Coffee Mug And Potion Bottle

  • White mug (as many as you want to decorate)
  • Clear bottle with cork (to make a potion bottle)
  • Colored Sharpie pens
  • Rubbing alcohol (to remove ink if you make a mistake)
  • Ear swabs (to apply alcohol)
Do You Need Any Of The Above Items?

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425° F.

Use the Sharpie pens to decorate the mug and bottle any way you want. The bottle in the video was decorated with the words Polyjuice Potion, but you can use any potion you want from the Harry Potter stories.

If you make a mistake, use the rubbing alcohol on an ear swab to erase the ink. Make sure the surface is completely dry before drawing on it again.

When you are happy with what you've drawn, place the bottle and cup on a baking sheet, then put them in the oven. Cook them for 35 minutes. Let cool, then use.

Note: If you add colored water to the bottle I highly recommend that you use a strong glue to glue the cork stopper to the bottle. This will help prevent the liquid from accidentally spilling out and staining something.
