Severus Snape and the Marauders

Last year a small production company called Broad Strokes made a 17 minute video called The Greater Good. It is about the fight between Albus Dumbledore, Aberforth Dumbledore, and Gellert Grindelwald that killed Ariana Dumbledore. Broad Strokes is made up of Harry Potter fans who want to bring to life some of the stories behind the Harry Potter series.

The Greater Good film was incredibly well made. I wrote about it and you can see it here. I highly recommend that you watch their first video and I'm not afraid to admit that it brought me to tears the first time I watched it.

Well, the talented people at Broad Strokes are working their magic again in a second short film. This time they are focusing on events that happened shortly after Severus Snape, James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew graduated from Hogwarts and will be titled Severus Snape and the Marauders.

According to Broad Stroke's website for the upcoming film, it will be released some time at the end of 2015 or early 2016. I will, of course, let you know when it has been published on YouTube, but until that day, I invite you to watch the trailer for it below. I think it looks like it will be amazing!

Oh, and for anyone who wonders why James's hair isn't messy, which is how it was often described as looking in the books, it's because the actor who they hired to play James was perfect in every way except his hair. They are hoping that we can forgive them for this fact. Based on what I see in the trailer I am more than willing to forgive them!

You might have heard that Warner Bros. got involved with this film and not in a positive way. Broad  Strokes turned to the fundraising site Kickstarter to raise money to make this film, but Warner Bros. contacted Broad Strokes and asked them (aka told them) to end their Kickstart campaign for this project, which they did. Fortunately, Warner Bros. said nothing about the film itself so it appears that they are okay with fans making films like this.

You can learn more about the film, and/or give a donation to help the post-production aspects of the film, by going to http://snapemaraudersfilm.com.

Lastly, as if seeing a new Harry Potter film wasn't enough, the people of Broad Strokes will give a live viewing of this film at Utopia Con on June 24, 2016. You can learn more about that, as well as other Harry Potter events going on in 2016, at the 2016 Events page.
